When working to make the Dyson Airblade dB hand dryer quieter than the original Dyson Airblade hand dryer, Dyson engineers focused on reducing sound from two key sources:

Reduced Air Rush Noise

Airblade technology results in air travelling at 420 mph through apertures measuring just 0.3 mm in width.

Dyson engineers have reduced the noise produced by the sheets of air by redesigning the the shape of the aprertures through which air is forced.

Reduced Motor Noise

Dyson acoustic engineers have made improvements to the level and the quality of the sound generated by the Dyson digital motor V4.


A very nice hygienic feature is the HEPA filtration system that cleans the air before it touches the user's hands. 

The product, made from polycarbonate-ABS, a strong and flexible plastic used to make riot shields and police helmets, produces over 50% less CO2 emissions during production than the aluminium equivalent.
